15 મી ઓગસ્ટ -યાદગાર દિવસ-મહીસાગર નવો જિલ્લો

ખેડા-પંચમહાલમાંથી છૂટો પડીને નવા મહિસાગર જિલ્લાની રચનાની જાહેરાત થતાં નવા મહિસાગરના જિલ્લા કલેક્ટરે તેમનો ચાર્જ સંભાળી લીધો હતો. ઉપરાંત જિલ્લાના વડા મથક લુણાવાડા ખાતે ૧૫મી ઓગસ્ટે જિલ્લા કક્ષાનું પ્રથમ ધ્વજવંદન કરવામાં આવશે. ઉપરાંત મહીસાગર જિલ્લાનું લુણાવાડા વડુ મથક બનતાં નગરજનોએ ફટાકડા ફોડી આ જાહેરાતને વધાવી હતી. આ પ્રસંગે મશાલ સરઘસ પણ કાઢવામાં આવ્યું હતું.

આજરોજ પંચમહાલ જિલ્લામાંથી લુણાવાડા- ખાનપુર- કડાણા- સંતરામપુર અને ખેડા જિલ્લામાંથી બાલાસિનોર અને વિરપુર એમ છ તાલુકાઓ ભેગા કરીને એક નવા મહિસાગર જિલ્લાની રચના અસ્તિત્વમાં આવી છે. છેલ્લા કેટલાય સમયથી આ છ તાલુકાઓના પ્રજાજનોને જિલ્લાના વડા મથક સુધી પહોંચવામાં આર્થિક તથા શારીરિક તકલીફો વેઠવી પડતી હતી. તેને ગુજરાત સરકાર દ્વારા પ્રજાહિતમાં નવા જિલ્લાઓની રચના કરી તેમાંનો એક મહિસાગર જિલ્લો પણ અસ્તિત્વમાં આવી ગયો છે.
મહિસાગર જિલ્લાનું વડુ મથક લુણાવાડા હોઇ સરકાર દ્વારા વિવિધ કચેરીઓનુ નિર્માણ કરાશે. એમાં કલેક્ટર કચેરી, જિલ્લા પંચાયત કચેરી, સિવિલ હોસ્પિટલ, ડીએસપી ઓફિસ તેમજ વિવિધ પ્રજા ઉપયોગી કચેરીઓ ટૂંક સમયમાં જિલ્લાના મુખ્ય મથક પર કાર્યરત થશે ત્યારે લુણાવાડા નગરને મહિસાગર જિલ્લાનું વડુ મથક બનાવતાં પ્રજાજનોમાં ખૂબ જ આનંદની લાગણી ફેલાઇ છે અને લુણાવાડાના વિકાસ હજુ વેગ પકડશે તેમાં બે મત નથી.
આજરોજ મહિસાગર જિલ્લાના પ્રથમ કલેક્ટર પ્રફૂલ્લ હર્ષે તેમનો ચાર્જ પણ સંભાળી લીધો છે અને પંદરમી ઓગસ્ટના દિને મહિસાગરનું વડુ મથક લુણાવાડામાં આર્ટસ, સાયન્સ એન્ડ કોમર્સ કોલેજના ગ્રાઉન્ડમાં કલેક્ટરના હસ્તે જિલ્લાનું પ્રથમ ધ્વજવંદન કરવામાં આવશે. તેવુ સરકારી સૂત્રો પાસેથી જાણવા મળ્યું છે. મહિસાગર જિલ્લાની રચના થતાં લુણાવાડા જિલ્લાનું વડુ મથક બનતાં પ્રજાજનો દ્વારા લુણેશ્વર ચોકડીએ ફટાકડા ફોડીને જાહેરાતને વધાવી લેવામાં આવી હતી અને સ્વતંત્ર દિવસની પૂર્વ સંધ્યાએ એક મશાલ સરઘસનું પણ આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું છે.

The Mahi is a river in western India. It rises in Madhya Pradesh and, after flowing through the Vagad region of Rajasthan, enters Gujarat and falls into the sea. It is one of three rivers, along with Tapti River and the Narmada River, to flow from East to West in India.
It has given its name to the Mahi Kantha agency of Bombay, and also to the mehwasis, marauding highlanders often mentioned in Arabian chronicles.
The exact position of Mahi River origin is Minda Village, which is situated in Dhar district Madhaya Pradesh.
Mahi River, stream in western India. It rises in the western Vindhya Range, just south of Sardarpur, and flows northward through Madhya Pradesh state. Turning northwest, it enters Rajasthan state and then turns southwest to flow through Gujarat state and enters the sea by a wide estuary past Khambhat after about a 360-mile (580-km) course. The silt brought down by the Mahi has contributed to the shallowing of the Gulf of Khambhat and the abandonment of its once-prosperous ports. The riverbed lies considerably lower than the land level and is of little use for irrigation.
On the River Mahi there is a dam named mahidam near Banswara in Rajasthan. The whole of Gujarat gets water to drink from the dam. The dam is made up of mud with 17 gates in it. It has many aligators, crocodiles and turtles in it. The current in charge of Mahi dam is Jagarnath Singh. It was built under the supervision of Banwarilal Gupta.
